Quilts for comfort and joy

My quilts usually begin with a feeling, a memory, or something that catches my eye. It might be a season, a holiday, a place I love, a person I’m making the quilt for, or even a single fabric that speaks to me. Once I have the idea, I start imagining how it could look as a quilt.

Sewing the quilt is where the magic happens. Piece by piece, block by block, the design starts to emerge. What started as a simple idea is now something warm, useful, and full of meaning. Every quilt tells a story—not just in its design, but in the time, thought, and love that went into creating it.

So many ideas. It is hard to decide what to make next. This is my newest pattern.

This cheerful “Garden Fresh” harvest quilt celebrates the abundance of a late-summer garden with a whimsical country style. At the center stands a smiling scarecrow dressed in patchwork sleeves, a red patterned vest with heart pockets, and a straw hat. Tall golden corn stalks frame the scarecrow on both sides, creating the feeling of standing right in the middle of a thriving garden..

The design captures the warmth and satisfaction of harvest season, making it a delightful quilt for kitchens, garden rooms, or fall decorating.
